The Hoist Protection System at Keells retail outlets is designed to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations by preventing overloading and limiting motor current based on the hoist load capacity.
About The Project
At Keells retail outlets, the safe and efficient movement of goods is essential for smooth daily operations. To support this process, a Hoist Protection System has been implemented to safeguard both equipment and personnel during lifting and stock transfer activities.
The main component of the hoist is a 3-phase AC motor, where the load directly affects the motor current. To prevent overloading and mechanical failures, the protection unit monitors and limits motor current according to safe operating thresholds. For enhanced safety, load restrictions are configured as follows:
1 Ton Hoist Motor: Limited to 500 kg load
2 Ton Hoist Motor: Limited to 750 kg load
By integrating overload sensing, current limiting, and routine safety controls, the system helps reduce equipment damage, minimize downtime, and prevent workplace accidents. This implementation reflects Keells’ strong commitment to safety, operational reliability, and maintaining a secure working environment for both staff and customers.
